Although it has been said that the end of paper has come with the wide spread use of computer, currently more paper is used than ever before. Paper is involved in almost every situation of our life. This piece is a ceremony and an ode to the material itself.
A performer on stage explores several, mostly destructive, methods of dealing with blank sheets of paper. The character and the sound of these actions structures the piece. Cello and double bass accompany and enhance, imitate and sometimes hold against the gestures and sound of processing paper. The computer sounds arise out of the mechanical sounds. They balance the line between an extension to the instruments and paper and the life as an autonomous being.
The whole performance is placed in an unique video installation, which turns the stage into an abstract, fragmented and folded space. The video material is played and spatialized live, which gives the performance an immediate quality.
